We’ve written a lot about the buzz over this year’s milestone in the Maya calendar (hint: don’t believe the hype). We’ve also shared an ultimate adventure bucket list for 2012. So when a friend showed me this infographic based on a recent survey, it caught my attention.

As December 2012 gets closer, doomsday prophets flood the Internet
and credit the Maya for predicting the end of the world. Getting into
the swing of things, First Choice, the home of cheap holidays,
commissioned a YouGov poll questioning more than 2,000 people as to
exactly how they’d like to spend their final months on Earth. The
results may surprise you.
While 51 percent of respondents would spend time with their families,
22 percent said they’d travel the world. Leading travel bloggers
weighed in on the discussion and helped to create a Doomsday Bucket List
of their favourite end-of-the-world destinations.
At the top of the list came India with Iceland up second and China,
Argentina, and Antarctica making up the top five. If bloggers knew the
world was going to end, the majority said they’d spread the word using
social media, and most would want to have their final moments speeding
down Route 66 in a classic American car. As appealing as this is,
there’s only a remote possibility the world will actually end in 2012,
considering the Maya’s track record.
